How technical writing departments can get off to a strategic and successful start.
Two-day in-house workshop for technical writing – with guidance, actionable results & a strategic roadmap
Many companies are faced with the challenge of using artificial intelligence in technical documentation in a meaningful and effective way, but they don't know where or how to start.
Our two-day workshop provides clarity: Together with your team, we analyse your current situation, assess realistic potential and develop a tailor-made roadmap for the use of AI in your technical writing department. In doing so, we rely on well-founded expertise, practical methods and concrete next steps – individually tailored to your goals.
In the workshop, all participants will receive a concise and practical introduction to the world of artificial intelligence. Key terms and the ways in which neural networks work are explained in an easy-to-understand manner. You will gain an overview of current developments and learn how to realistically assess the opportunities and limitations of AI – creating a common level of knowledge as a basis for further collaboration.
You will gain market insight into the AI tools currently available and their benefits for technical writing. Using concrete, real-world examples, we will show you which solutions can already be used effectively today and which tasks they are particularly well suited for. You will receive practical recommendations on how to efficiently integrate the right tools into your day-to-day editorial work.
Together, we will analyse where your company currently stands with regard to AI: We will look at existing applications, internal expertise and untapped potential. In doing so, we specifically identify areas in which AI can create real added value for your technical writing – tailored to your processes, challenges and goals. You will benefit from a structured assessment that highlights individual strengths and identifies specific areas for development.
At the end of the workshop, you will receive a clear, practical roadmap for the further use of AI in your technical writing department. You will take away a prioritised list of measures that includes specific next steps, suitable tools and strategic recommendations. The roadmap is supplemented by clear responsibilities, a realistic timetable and tips for successful internal communication and change management.
The two-day workshop consists of two phases that build on each other: First, we create a common knowledge base on artificial intelligence, then we work with your team to develop an individual AI strategy for your technical writing. You will benefit from a balanced mix of theory, practice and strategic advice.
At the end, you will have clear, directly implementable application ideas and an individual, prioritised roadmap for how your editorial team can take the next step towards AI: tailored to your goals, resources and structures, including best practices for change communication and sustainable embedding within the company.

We start with a practical introduction to key AI concepts: What is artificial intelligence – and what is not? How do Large Language Models (LLMs) work? What does “prompting” mean, and how can AI tools be used effectively in day-to-day editorial work? You will gain insights into machine learning, deep learning and current AI trends and experience AI applications such as text creation, translation or index generation live using the example of individual tools. We will also take a look at traditional technical writing tools – such as CCMS or CDP – and their AI functions. The aim is to develop a clear understanding of the possibilities and limitations of AI in the context of technical communication. Practical exercises such as developing your own prompts, the D.O.K.U. prompt framework and analysing typical use cases from technical writing are part of this section.

In the second part of the workshop, we will work together to develop your individual AI strategy. To do this, we will first analyse the current state of your editorial team: Where is AI already being used? Where is there untapped potential? And which processes can be sensibly automated or supported by AI? We develop concrete ideas, both individually and as a team, prioritise the possible applications and define realistic next steps. Our workshop speaker, Christopher Rechtien, draws on his invaluable experience in the field of design thinking here. He selects the most suitable methods for you to ensure that changes are also embedded in a sustainable way. Of course, topics such as data protection, AI policy and the secure handling of sensitive data are also discussed. The development of personas for specific target groups, practical exercises for creating the first useful AI applications, and examples from real-life projects will ensure that you can head into the future with a clear, actionable plan of action.

At the end, you will have clear, directly implementable application ideas and an individual, prioritised roadmap for how your editorial team can take the next step towards AI: tailored to your goals, resources and structures, including best practices for change communication and sustainable embedding within the company.
